What Makes Checked Napkins Special?
Checks are one of those patterns that never really go out of style.
They can look traditional, rustic or modern depending on the colours and size of the pattern.
A simple beige or grey check works well on a natural table. Red and green checks can add more colour, while blue, yellow or multicolour designs can create a brighter and more relaxed look.
The checked pattern is created during weaving by using different coloured yarns. This makes the checks part of the fabric itself.
Checked napkins are also easy to combine with plain tablecloths, wooden tables, ceramics and other natural materials.
Linen, Linen-Cotton and Fabric Weight
Most checked napkins in our collection are made from a blend of linen and cotton.
Many designs use 52% linen and 48% cotton. This mix combines the natural look of linen with the softer feel of cotton.
We also offer selected checked napkins made from 100% linen.
Fabric weight depends on the design. Many of our linen-cotton checked napkins are around 210 g/m², giving them a nice structure for table use. Lighter and heavier fabrics are also available.
Some 100% linen napkins are specially washed. This gives the fabric a softer and more relaxed feel from the beginning.
Please check each product page for the exact fabric composition, weight and available sizes.
Different Colours and Check Patterns
Not all checked napkins look the same.
Our collection includes simple two-colour checks as well as more detailed patterns made from several colours.
You can find natural beige and brown shades, soft grey colours, blue checks, green tones, red checks and colourful combinations.
Some fabrics have a classic twill weave, while others combine checks with different weaving patterns.
This variety makes it easy to find checked napkins for different seasons and interior styles.
Natural colours work well throughout the year. Red and green can be especially attractive for autumn, winter and festive tables, while lighter blue, grey and beige shades create a softer look.
How to Use Checked Napkins
Checked napkins can be used for both everyday meals and special table settings.
For a simple look, fold the napkin and place it next to the plate or directly on top of it.
If your napkins have a strong pattern, try combining them with a plain tablecloth. The checks will add colour without making the table look too busy.
For a more coordinated table, choose matching pieces from the same design.
Many of our checked napkins are also available with matching tablecloths, table runners or placemats.
You can also mix checked napkins with plain linen table textiles for a more relaxed and personal table setting.
Caring for Checked Linen Napkins
Reusable linen and linen-cotton napkins are made to be washed and used many times.
Always follow the care instructions for the individual product.
Wash similar colours together and use a mild detergent. Avoid chlorine bleach.
Coloured fabrics should be washed with a detergent that does not contain strong whitening agents.
Air drying is recommended when possible.
If you prefer a smooth and neat table setting, iron the napkins while they are still slightly damp or use steam.
Washed linen napkins can also be left with their natural texture for a more relaxed look.
Linen-containing fabrics usually become softer with washing and regular use.
Woven and Made in Lithuania
Our checked napkins are made in Lithuania by AB “Siūlas” in Biržai.
The company has been working with linen since 1928.
The fabrics are woven in our factory and then cut and sewn into finished table linen.
Many of the same checked fabrics are also used for tablecloths, runners and placemats.
This means you can choose matching products made from the same fabric and create a complete table setting.
